Government anti-narcotics operatives have foiled the attempt to smuggle more than P11 million worth of shabu through the Port of Clark.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) received information from the International Cooperation Foreign Affairs Service that a package at the Port of Clark that came from Africa on Nov. 17 could be containing shabu.
The report noted that the package was declared to contain pairs of shoes but when it passed through the x-ray scanner it was discovered to include bags stuffed with initially unidentified items.
Authorities later found out that the parcel contained concealed black packages in the lining of the bags.
Further physical inspection revealed that more than one kilo of shabu was wrapped in a plastic, carbon paper and black duct tape.
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) turned over the confiscated shabu to the PDEA.
The consignee from Taguig City face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’ (Chito A. Chavez)
