Over P800,000 worth of shabu and marijuana were seized in several police operations in Caloocan and Quezon Cities on Tuesday, Dec. 27, and Wednesday, Dec. 28.
The Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) said the first three suspects -- Lolita Saavedra, 59; Robin Saavedra, 25, both residents of Marilao, Bulacan; and Noemi Ebacuardo, 28, of Caloocan City -- yielded P340,000 worth of alleged shabu in a buy-bust operation.
Members of the CCPS Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) launched the entrapment against the suspects on 12th Avenue in West Grace Park, Barangay 71, Caloocan City at around 6 a.m. on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, a man carrying suspected marijuana worth P117,000 was collared by CCPS operatives on the same day.
Police identified the suspect as Jeffrey Tanjuan, 30, of Quezon City.
CCPS personnel manning a checkpoint on Samson Road in Brgy. 167 Llano in the city flagged down the suspect’s motorcycle for an inspection.
According to the police, the operatives informed the suspect about the ongoing operation and asked for his driver’s license, motorcycle documents and the content of a plastic hanging on the hook of his vehicle.
Tanjuan suddeny sped off to escape but was chased and cornered by the cops. Confiscated from him was a brick of 975 grams of alleged dried marijuana leaves.
Operatives from different police stations of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) also seized P355,640 worth of alleged shabu and arrested 10 suspects in a series of buy-bust operations in the city on Dec. 27.
All the suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Tanjuan will also be charged for violation of Article 151 (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority or his Agents) of the Revised Penal Code, the CCPS said.
