Korean actor and model Ye Hak-young passed away on Christmas Eve. He was 39.
According to Korean media, Ye Hak-young died on the morning of Dec. 24 and the cause of death was unknown.
His wake was held at the Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital in Anyang in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.
Ye Hak-young was buried on Dec. 26 at the Xian Family Memorial Park in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province.
Born on Feb. 8, 1983, he debuted as a model in the Seoul Collection in 2001 and attracted attention along with the likes of Kang Dong-won, Gong Yoo and Ju Ji-hoon.
He branched out into acting, appearing in the Korean sitcom “Nonstop 4,” and films like “A Millionaire’s First Love” and “Pharisee.”
In 2009, Ye Hak-young was arrested on charges of smuggling and using ketamine and ecstasy along with Korean actor Ju Ji-hoon and actress Yun Seol-hee.
Ye Hak-young was convicted and sentenced to two years and six months in jail suspended for four years.
Ju Ji-hoon was sentenced to six months in jail suspended for one year while Yun Seol-hee was sentenced to three years in jail.
Ye Hak-young was charged with drunk driving in 2018 and 2019.
