College student, friend drown in Batangas beach resort

NASUGBU, Batangas – A 20-year-old college student and his 23-year-old friend drowned while swimming in a beach resort here on Monday, Dec. 26.

Police identified the victim as Mark Aldrin Siringan of Veterans Village, Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City, and Marvin Sid-ay, a resident of Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City.

Their friends told police that the victims went swimming at around 1 p.m. but failed to emerge at 4 p.m.

They reported their friends missing to barangay officials and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducted a search and rescue operation.

The bodies of the victims were found on the shoreline of Barangay Calayo here on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Rescuers informed the police afterwards of the incident.
