CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A barangay captain who was walking at the city market plaza here, was shot dead by an unidentified assailant on Tuesday night, Dec. 27.
The Police Regional Office 3 readily condemned the killing of barangay captain Jesus Liang of Brgy. Sto Rosario who died on the spot due to a single bullet on his head.
Police investigators said Liang was walking along Abad Santos St. in City Market Plaza when he was shot in the head.
Police Brigadier General Cesar Pasiwen immediately directed the policemen to conduct an in-depth investigation.
"I have ordered an in-depth probe on this incident and we are looking into all angles to establish possible motives,” said Pasiwen.
“We are exerting all means to get into the bottom of this unfortunate incident and we are now in the process of gathering pieces of evidence that will lead us to the identification of the culprit,” he added.
“We assure the public, as well as the victim's family, of our total commitment to ensure immediate resolution of the case through proper investigation,” said Pasiwen said the case will be top priority considering a barangay official is involved.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the late barangay captain Liang’s family and we continue to solicit public support,” said Pasiwen.
Pasiwen at the same time has invited anyone who may have knowledge on the case to come forward and help the police resolve the case at the earliest possible time.
