Villar vows to assist Marcos admin’s ‘Build Better More’ infrastructure program


Senator Mark Villar on Tuesday, December 27 pledged to assist the Marcos administration push its “Build Better More” infrastructure drive and help expedite the completion of the current administration’s projects.

Villar made the remark during his visit at the NLEX Connect Project, where he was personally invited by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation for an update on the project.

The said project started during his term as Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary.

“Nakakatuwa isipin na patapos na ang NLEX Connector, yung dating pangarap lang natin ay nagiging totoo na. Malaking tulong ito sa ating mga kababayan (It's exciting to think that the NLEX Connector is nearing completion, our dream is now becoming a reality. This is a big help to our countrymen),” Villar said.

“By first quarter of next year may mga sections na sila na bubuksan (there are sections that would be opened). This will alleviate traffic in the metro,” the senator further said.

The NLEX Connector is an 8 kilometer, 4 lane, all elevated expressway from C3 Road Caloocan Interchange through Manila traversing Blumentrit and España up to Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta Mesa, Manila.

Other key officials present during the visit was former “Build, Build, Build” chairperson and now DICT Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo and Luigi Bautista, Senior Executive of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation.

“Ang kagandahan dito ay nakikita natin ang continuation ng projects (The good thing is we see the continuation of infrastructure projects) from ‘Build, Build, Build’ to Build Better More,” the neophyte lawmaker said.

“Very important ang continuity (continuity is very important) especially for major projects like this. Kaya naman (that’s why) we give our all out suppport to the infrastructure drive of the current administration,” he said.
