Malacañang revealed that President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has designated Undersecretary Eduardo Punay as officer-in-charge of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Office of the Press Secretary officer-in-charge Cheloy Garafil confirmed Punay's designation on Tuesday, Dec. 27.
Punay has been serving as the department's undersecretary for special projects. He is a former reporter.
This came after the powerful Commission on Appointments bypassed for the second time the nomination of Erwin Tulfo as the DSWD chief.
Tulfo's nomination to the post was first bypassed in September due to lack of time while it happened again in December due to issues on his citizenship.
