Alfred Vargas reveals new year's resolution: 'Iwas na ako sa mga taong plastic at nega'

Former Quezon City congressman Alfred Vargas said that he's raring to go back to showbiz following his stint in politics, adding that he's excited to do a project with National Artist Nora Aunor and movie director Adolf Alix Jr.

Vargas said that he would be working with Ate Guy and director Adolf for the first time.

"First time ko silang makakatrabaho and I am beyond excited. Dream come true para sa akin to do a project with the one and only superstar Nora Aunor," said Vargas, during an interview recently. "Long overdue naman magka project with Direk Adolf. Before pa data kami nakagawa ng pelikula hindi lang natuloy. This time, ito na. I admire the body of work of Direk Adolf at masarap siyang katrabaho. Isa siya sa mga pinakamagagaling na young directors."

(It's my first time working with them and I am beyond excited. Dream came true for me to do a project with the one and only superstar Nora Aunor. It's long overdue to do a project with Direk Adolf. Before we made a movie, it just didn't work. This time, this is it. I admire the body of work of Direk Adolf and he is great to work with. He is one of the best young directors.)

Vargas refused to reveal the working title for the upcoming film. But he said that the story is a meaningful mother and son story by Jerry Gracio. "May element dito na first time gagawin ni Nora on the big screen at ako naman first time ko rin sa role na ito. Drama siya na may halong action and suspense."

(There is an element here that is Nora's first time on the big screen and also my first time in this role. It is a drama with a mix of action and suspense.)

The movie will be shot in the first quarter of 2023 and will be shown the same year.

Vargas admitted that he's nervous to be working with Ate Guy.

"Honestly, may kaba sa akin. Bata pa lamang ako fan na niya ako. Paano pa kaya kung kasama mo na sa eksena? Wow grabe! I met her na personally to talk about the project at napakabait at hospitable niya. Na starstruck ako noon. I was just trying to act calm sa harap niya. Nagpa picture ako sa kanya at super happy ako," he said.

(Honestly, I'm nervous. I was her fan when I was young. And now we will be together in some scenes. Wow great! I met her personally to talk about the project and she was very kind and hospitable. I was starstruck then. I was just trying to act calm in front of her. I took a picture with her and I was super happy.)

Vargas added: "Script development stage pa lamang kami. Puro usap and planning with Direk Adolf. Gusto ko ang chemistry namin na nagkakaintidihan kami at pareho kami ng vision for the project. I know I can trust him with everything."

(We are still in the script development stage. We are talking and planning with Director Adolf. I like our chemistry that we understand each other and we have the same vision for the project. I know I can trust him with everything.)

The actor-politician said that he is excited for the coming year.

Vargas said that he will celebrate the new year at Loyola Heights with his family and brother Cong PM.

On his new year wish, Vargas said: "Sana lalo kong ma-nurture yung mga important relationships ko sa buhay. I realized kasi that life is about meaningful relationships. I realized that life is about meaningful relationships talaga. Yan ang magpapaligaya sayo at ang mga tunay mong kaibigan ang mag-aangat sayo at tutulong sayo sa buhay. Tumatak yan sa akin nitong pandemic."

(I hope I can nurture my important relationships in life. I realized that life is about meaningful relationships. That will make you happy and your true friends will lift you up and help you in life. This pandemic left a mark on me.)

Vargas also revealed his new year's resolution. "Iiwas nako sa mga taong plastic at nega.Tatanggalin ko na sila sa buhay ko haha!"
