Three alleged theft suspects, including a 17-year-old boy, were arrested by operatives of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Kamuning Police Station (PS 10) on Monday, Dec. 26.
Lt. Col. Robert Amoranto, PS 10 commander, identified two of the suspects as John Lawrence San Juan, 18, resident of Brgy. South Triangle, Quezon City, and Gino Zabala, 22, of Brgy. Kasiglahan, Montalban Rizal.
According to the police, the victim, Danielle Mae Besas, parked her car in front of Union Bank at Timog Avenue in Brgy. Sacred Heart, Quezon City at around 5 a.m. on Monday.
When Besas got off her car, the three suspects and their cohort opened her vehicle's door and took her personal belongings.
She tried to chase the suspects, but they immediately ran towards Timog Avenue and boarded a taxicab.
The victim reported the incident to PS 10 and barangay public safety officers (BPSOs) of Barangay Commonwealth after locating the suspects at Commonwealth Avenue through the location tracker installed in her cellular phone.
The cops immediately conducted a follow-up operation.
After continuous tracking, the three suspects were spotted and cornered by the police at Kaliraya Street, Brgy. Tatalon, Quezon City on the same day at about 9 a.m.
Police said the suspect's cohort, John Clark Bajet, 18, of Brgy. Tatalon, Quezon City, managed to escape.
Recovered from the suspects were the victim’s iPhone 11 worth P28,000, a Vivo V19 Neo worth P17,000; P20,000 cash, and a wallet.
However, the victim's black Secosana bag, passport, eyeglasses, two debit cards, a credit card, and coins were unrecovered.
The suspects will be charged with theft before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Officer.
The minor was brought to the Quezon City Social Services Development Department for proper intervention, police said.
