ILIGAN CITY – Eighty-one families have been affected by flood as a result of heavy rains from a shear line in this city.

Seventy-three families were from Barangay Hinaplanon while three were from Barangay Del Carmen.

They were evacuated to the Hinaplanon National High School.

As of Sunday night, Dec. 25, 85 families or more than 300 persons were displaced in four puroks in Barangay Hinaplanon.

Residents said this is the first time since typhoon “Sendong’’ in 2011 that their houses were flooded.

Lovely Gairanon, who is staying in the evacuation center with her baby, said they decided to evacuate after above knee-level flood entered their house for the first time.

City Council Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee chairman Councilor Ramil Emborong, together with the Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, troops, and the Philippine Coast Guard, in line with Iligan Mayor Frederick Siao's instructions, distributed food and non-food items to evacuees through the City Social Welfare Development (CSWD).
