Worst film actors, movies in Korea in 2022 revealed in 6th Raspberry Film Festival 


It is that time of the year again when Korean film journalists choose the worst movies, worst film actors, and stars, directors and film officials with the worst manners under the 6th Raspberry Film Festival.

The Raspberry Film Festival is the Korean version of the Golden Raspberry Awards, or Razzies, in the US,, which selects the worst films and actors.

For the 6th Raspberry Film Festival, Korean newspaper Sports Kyunghyang conducted a survey among 34 Korean film reporters covering movies released from December 2021 to Nov. 30 this year.

Each voter cast three votes for each category to select the winners of the worst films, worst acting and worst manners.

Worst acting winners

In first place as the worst film actor in Korea in 2022 under the 6th Raspberry Film Festival is Korean actress Ji An for the film “Serve the People,” which was released in Korea on Feb. 23 this year. It also starred Yeon Woo-jin, Jo Sung-ha and Kim Ji-chul.

Ji An received 21 votes for her bad acting. Reasons cited by voters were “the standard of Korean language book acting” and “an example of incorrect character interpretation.”

Well-known actor So Ji-sub received six votes to emerge as the second worst actor in Korea in 2022 for the film “Alienoid,” released on July 20, which also starred Ryu Jun-yeol, Kim Woo-bin and Kim Tae-ri.

Tied for third place with three votes each are “All of Us Are Dead” actress Cho Yi-hyun for the film “Ditto,” which also starred Yeo Jin-goo, Kim Hye-yoon and Na In-woo; and actor Joo Won for the Netflix film “Carter.”

“Serve the People” was voted the No. 1 worst film in Korea in 2022, receiving 18 out of 34 votes or 53 percent.

The film starred Yeon Woo-jin, Ji An, Jo Sung-ha and Kim Ji-chul and was based on a Chinese novel about the romance between a soldier and the wife of a division commander.

In second place with nine votes is the Netflix movie “Carter,” directed by Jung Byung-gil and starring Joo Won, Lee Sung-jae, Jeong So-ri and Kim Bo-min.

“Alienoid,” starring Ryu Jun-yeol, So Ji-sub, Kim Woo-bin and Kim Tae-ri,” grabbed third place as worst film in Korea in 2022 with seven votes.

“Ditto,” starring Yeo Jin-goo, Cho Yi-hyun, Kim Hye-yoon and Na In-woo, was voted the fourth worst film in Korea this year with six votes.

Celebrities with the worst manners in 2022

“Eternals” star Ma Dong-seok of the Korean films “The Roundup” and “Men of Plastic” received 20 votes to win the title in the worst manner category.

According to the report by Sports Kyunghyang, Ma Dong-seok produced and starred in “The Roundup” but skipped the interview with the media for personal reasons. He only distributed press releases with answers to questions and refused to participate in any interview and was described as unprofessional.

In second place with 11 votes is actress Kim Tae-ri of “Alienoid.” One reason cited was that she showed an unsatisfactory attitude during an interview.

Nam Joo-hyuk, star of the film “Remember” and who was Kim Tae-ri’s co-star in the drama “Twenty-Five Twenty-One,” ranked third for the worst manner with six votes.

Director Jang Cheol-soo of “Serve the People” ranked fourth with three votes.
