Municipal councilor dies, mayor, companion injured in vehicular accident in Quezon town

ISABELA -- A municipal councilor died while a mayor and his companion were injured in an accident involving three vehicles around 6:45 in the evening on December 24 in Quezon.

A local radio station reported that Sangguniang Bayan member Candido Andumang of Quezon town died while Quezon Mayor Jimmy Gamazon Jr. and his companion were injured.

Philippine National Police-Quezon said that SB Andumang was driving his pick-up truck on the way home from Poblacion.

It was learned that he encroached the other side of the road and hit the oncoming SUV driven by Mayor Gamazon. Mayor Gamazon’s SUV also hit another SUV in the accident.

According to the authorities, the vehicle driven by the SB member also overturned.

The municipal councilor was taken to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Mayor Gamazon and his companion both sustained injuries. They were taken to a private hospital.

The passenger in the other SUV who came from the city of Tuguegarao was unhurt, according to the initial report.
