A 53-year-old man died in a brawl with a tricycle driver in Sariaya, Quezon before Christmas Day, police said.
The victim, Rockie Monteverde, was driving a tricycle with his son Vincent and wife when a passenger flagged him. The suspect, tricycle driver Redentor Bandol, 47, also stopped to take the passenger.
Bandol confronted the victim because his tricycle is private and not for hire and the suspect challenged the victim to a fistfight.
Monteverde’s son tried to pacify the suspect but Bandol punched the victim. A fistfight ensued and when the brawl stopped, the victim complained of chest pain while sitting on his tricycle and collapsed.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he died. Police are conducting a manhunt operation against Bandol.
Meanwhile, Gerry Ravaner, 38, a farmer, was gunned down in Barangay Bani, San Narciso, Quezon.
Ravaner and his father were walking in front of the house of their neighbor Joel Balote, 54, when the suspect approached and shot the victim for no apparent reason.
The victim died on the spot while Balote fled towards the mountain in Barangay Bani.
