TUGUEGARAO CITY -- A fire of unknown origin left almost P1 million worth of damages to a two-story residential building owned by a city councilor at Zone 1, Diversion Road, Corner Campos Street, Caritan Centro, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan on Saturday, Dec. 24.
The Cagayan Police Provincial Office identified the owner of the building as a certain Gilbert, 48, a city councilor and a resident of Caritan Centro, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
Personnel of Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) from CPPO were patrolling the area when they saw the second floor of the house of the victim was burning.
They then informed the occupants of the building and immediately requested for assistance from the Bureau of Fire Protection.
The fire was also witnessed by the cashier of a nearby JL Fuel Gas Station whose name was Rona Telan.
She narrated to the Police that she saw the residential building, particularly a room at the second floor, was on fire.
BFP declared the fire out at around 4:25 a.m. on Dec. 24.
The estimated cost of damage was P950,000.
The incident is still under investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
