Thousands flocked to the Antipolo Cathedral, otherwise known as the International Shrine of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, and the nearby city park to spend Christmas Day with loved ones.

The Christmas Day morning masses at the cathedral were jampacked with churchgoers as Filipinos observed December 25 as an occasion to spend with family and relatives.
Peace Keepers from the city government roamed the vicinity of the Antipolo Cathedral, including the Sumulong Park, as thousands of residents and visitors, some coming from other parts of the province and Metro Manila, strolled on Christmas Day morning.
Couple Luis and Ursula De Belen of Barangay Pag-Asa in Binangonan, Rizal were among those who enjoyed the cold weather as they both promenaded at Sumulong Park.
A giant Christmas Tree and dancing fountain were among the attractions at the park.
The De Belens, who attended Christmas morning mass at the cathedral before going to the park told Manila Bulletin that the year 2022 has been a relatively better year for their family.
“Mas masaya ngayong Pasko dahil nakakapamasyal na tayo hindi katulad ng mga nakaraang taon (We are happier this Christmas as we can now go out unlike during the previous years)," Luis said.
The De Belen couple hopes that the coming year will be more beneficial to their family and to others as well.
Mayor Casimiro “Junjun” Ynares, III, his wife Andrea and their two daughters, have posted Christmas Day greetings to the residents on the mayor’s official Facebook page.
The number of visitors at Sumulong Park is expected to double as night time comes as the promenade park lights up as if attracting more people to enjoy the cold breeze that has been felt in the city since the past few days.
