
ZAMBOANGA CITY – One person was reported missing while more than 400 individuals evacuated due to strong rains here which started on Christmas Eve.
An orange rainfall warning was raised on Saturday night as rains spawned by the shear line and wind convergence battered at least 10 barangays here.
One person was reported missing in Barangay Mercedes while another was injured in Barangay Guisao.
Mayor John Dalipe here ordered the deployment of rescue teams to Barangays Tumaga, Putik, Guisao, Culianan, Boalan, Mercedes, Cabaluay, Cacao, Sangali, and Boalan after these areas reported heavy flooding.
Some 410 individuals evacuated to elementary schools and barangay halls in their barangays.
Around 13 houses in Sitios Limbu and Look in Barangay Tumalutab were damaged by strong winds around midnight on Christmas Day.
Dalipe and Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja here led the distribution of relief goods and sleeping kits to affected families.
