VP Duterte’s Christmas message puts spotlight on ordinary Pinoys


Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte on Saturday, Dec. 24, in her Christmas message brought to centerstage ordinary Filipinos who contributed to the growth of the nation, especially during times of calamities and disruptions.

In her another Christmas message, the official reminded Filipinos “to find the essence of Christ's birth in our lives through acts of compassion, generosity, and kindness to our fellow Filipinos.”

“Let me thank the private sector, our overseas Filipino workers, teachers, soldiers and everyone in the security sector, government workers, and all Filipinos whose sacrifices contribute to the growth of the nation, ensure the welfare of Filipinos, and support the education of our children and youth, especially during times of crisis, calamities, acts of terrorism, and global disruptions,” Duterte said.

She enjoined Filipinos to inspire their fellowmen in the disadvantaged sectors of society “to believe in their capacity to overcome life's adversities and restore their love and faith for their families, their communities, and the Philippine government.”

Recognizing the economic and health challenges that befell the country, the Vice President echoed the message of unity that was the banner of her’s and President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s 2022 campaign.

“This year, our resolve to advance in our respective pursuits may have been challenged by economic hurdles, public health concerns, and natural calamities,” she said.

“Nevertheless, these circumstances have united us in our shared humanity and resiliency as we continue to close the gaps in governance, respond to our people's needs, and usher in a new period of inclusive and sustainable development,” Duterte added.
