BACOLOD CITY – An elderly man and his brother-in-law died after their motorcycle crashed into a multicab in Barangay Punao, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Dec. 22.
Police identified the fatalities as Philip Warren Comahig Sr., 34, and Alfredo Wasawas, 68, residents of Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City.
Corporal Jotham Flores, traffic investigator of the San Carlos City Police Station, said Comahig was driving a speeding motorcycle on their way home but lost control and rammed into a multicab.
A witness told Flores that some speeding motorcycles were tailing the multicab. However, the witness could not tell if the victims were part of the convoy.
Victims had helmets but they sustained serious injuries due to the impact. They were declared dead on arrival in a hospital, Flores said.
Flores said the 63-year-old multicab driver was unharmed. He was released from police custody after police found out that he has no liability in the accident.
