Filipinos were urged to continue observing Covid-19 health protocols amid holiday festivities to prevent the occurrence of another virus surge.
Former Special Adviser of the National Task Force Against Covid-19 Dr. Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa, on Saturday, Dec. 24 reminded the public to continue adhering to health protocols, reiterating that “Covid-19 is still present.”
“Paalala ko lang sa lahat. Masayang magdiwang ng Pasko after several years, pero mag-ingat dahil nandyan pa rin ang Covid-19 (I’m just reminding everyone. It is fun to celebrate Christmas after several years, but be careful because Covid-19 is still here),” said Herbosa in an interview over DZRH.
This was after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed the detection of four BF.7 cases in the Philippines.
“Ganyan naman talaga, may mga bagong subvariant na lumalabas. Hindi natin alam kung gaano ito katindi o kung mas mild ito (That’s the way it is, new subvariants will occur. We do not know how severe it is or if it is milder),” said the expert.
According to Herbosa, it is “too early to tell” whether this strain should be a “cause of alarm” or not. Nonetheless, he still urged Filipinos to keep following health protocols despite the easing of Covid-19 measures in the Philippines.
“Dahil alam na natin kung paano nakakahawa ang ine-expect natin na ang mga tao na ang mag didisiplina sa sarili nila (Since we already how Covid-19 is transmitted, we expect the public to discipline and take care of themselves),” he added.
