Three Chinese nationals who allegedly abducted a woman and sold her to a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) were arrested by Pasay City police in a series of operations early this week.
Col. Byron Tabernilla, Pasay City police chief, identified the suspects as Jia He Zhang, 28; Yun Gao, 29; and Lie Wang, 32, staying at a condominium in Makati City.
Tabernilla said follow-up operations were conducted after Senator Grace Poe revealed in her privilege speech on Dec. 14 the kidnapping of a woman who was later sold to a POGO company operating in Cavite City.
The victim was reportedly released after her brother-in-law paid P250,000 to the suspects.
Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Brion Kraft, upon learning of the incident, immediately ordered the operation against the suspects based on the car plate number shown during the privilege speech of Sen. Poe.
Tabernilla said follow-up operations were launched, leading to the arrest of Zhang and Gao on Chino Roces Ave. in Makati City on Dec. 19 and apprehension of Wang on Taft Ave. in Pasay City on Dec. 20.
The cops recovered from the suspects two guns and a grenade.
The city police chief also revealed that the three foreigners were encouraging fellow Chinese nationals to work in their POGO company, offering high salary.
However, Tabernilla said female Chinese women were allegedly being held captive and sold.
During investigation, the police found out that Wang was one of the suspects involved in abusing a Cambodian national in an apartment on Moana St. in Pasay City last August.
Tabernilla said based on the CCT footage, the suspect was seen wearing the same shoes when he jumped from the apartment to evade arrest.
