P42.9 M worth of dried marijuana leaves, stalks seized in Kalinga


BAGUIO CITY – Authorities recovered P42,960,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves and stalks at Sitio Silay, Poblacion in Tinglayan, Kalinga on Friday, Dec. 23.

Personnel from PIU/Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit, Tinglayan Police Station, RID Police Regional Office-Cordillera, RPDEU, and 2ndKPMFC carried out the raid and found the bricks and tubes placed in nine sacks with a total weight of 358 kilos.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of the following pieces of evidence:

a. 40 bricks of dried MJ leaves and stalks wrapped in transparent plastic with an estimated weight of 40 kilos with SDP of P4,800,000;

b. 42 bricks of dried MJ leaves and stalks wrapped in transparent plastic with an estimated weight of 42 kilos with SDP of P5,040,000;

c. 42 bricks of dried MJ leaves and stalks wrapped in transparent plastic with an estimated weight of 42 kilos with SDP of P5,040,000;

d. 27 bricks of dried MJ leaves and stalks wrapped in transparent plastic and 7 pieces in tubular form with the same content with an estimated weight of 34 kilos with SDP of P4,080,000;

e. 42 bricks of dried MJ leaves and stalks wrapped in transparent plastic with an estimated weight of 42 kilos with SDP of P5,040,000;

f. 30 pieces in tubular form of dried MJ leaves and stalks wrapped in transparent plastic with an estimated weight of 30 kilos with SDP of PHP 3,600,000.00 placed inside a white sack;

g. 43 bricks of dried MJ leaves and stalks wrapped in transparent plastic with an estimated weight of 43 kilos with SDP of P5,160,000;

h. 45 bricks of dried MJ leaves and stalks wrapped in transparent plastic with an estimated weight of 45 kilos with SDP of P5,400,000.00; and

i. 40 bricks of dried MJ leaves and stalks wrapped in transparent plastic with an estimated weight of 40 kilos with SDP of P4, 800,000.00.

Police authorities received a tip from concerned citizens that sacks of dried marijuana leaves discreetly stocked piled beside the national road at Sitio Silay, Poblacion, Tinglayan Kalinga.

Operatives were immediately dispatched to verify the information. Upon verification, government operatives launched a surveillance for possible apprehension of the owner.

However, no owner was apprehended.

Photographs, markings and inventory of pieces of evidence were conducted onsite. Recovered marijuana bricks and stalks will be brought to Kalinga Forensic Unit for proper disposition. JJ Landingin
