Mayor Joy, Vice Mayor Gian express gratitude for awards received this year
Quezon City (QC) Mayor Joy Belmonte and Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, in their Christmas message on Saturday, Dec. 24, expressed gratitude for the awards received by the city government in 2022.
"Ngayong taon, marami tayong dapat ipagdiwang at ipagpasalamat. Tuloy-tuloy ang pagbangon ng ating lungsod mula sa pandemya, dahil sa tapat at masigasig na pamumuno ni Mayor Joy Belmonte (This year, we have much to celebrate and be thankful for. Our city continues to recover from the pandemic, due to the honest and enthusiastic leadership of Mayor Joy Belmonte)," Sotto said.
The vice mayor said the QC government has accepted over 150 awards since 2019.
"Sunud-sunod ang naging pagkilala sa atin mula sa iba-ibang ahensya para sa ating mga programa at serbisyo para sa inyo (We have been recognized, one after another, by various agencies for our programs and services for you)," he added.
The QC local government recently accepted various awards for its exemplary projects and programs.
Among the notable awards were the Cities and Municipalities' Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Overall Most Competitive Highly Urbanized City and other recognitions in four CMCI categories.
The Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Summit was held last Oct. 20. It is an annual summit that ranks the country's cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council (through the Regional Competitiveness Committees), with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development.
The city government said since Mayor Joy took office in 2019, the QC LGU has repeatedly been recognized as one of the most competitive highly urbanized cities by other award-giving bodies.
Meanwhile, Mayor Joy said the real basis of the city's success can be determined in the life development of every QCitizen (Quezon City's citizen).
"Sa pagtutulungan ng executive department ng lungsod at ng city council, makaaasa kayo na patuloy naming isusulong na magkaroon ng katiyakan sa paninirahan, ayuda sa kabuhayan, at serbisyong panlipunan ang bawat QCitizen (With the cooperation of the city's executive department and the city council, you can count on us to continue to promote the security in housing, livelihood assistance, and social services of every QCitizen)," the mayor said.
She also said that the circular design of QC's Christmas tree symbolizes "unity, eternity, and totality."
You can count on us all to act together. At QC, we complete the services, so we don't rely on luck to achieve prosperity)," Belmonte added.
