CEBU CITY – The bid of Bohol province to build a convention center received a major boost from Sen. Imee Marcos.
Gov. Aris Aumentado announced that Marcos has given the province an initial fund of P50 million for the construction of the Bohol Convention Center.
“We are thankful to Sen. Marcos for answering our call to help us in our dream to have our own convention center,” Aumentado said.
The assistance that Marcos gave to the province came from the General Appropriations Act.
Aumentado said P200 million is needed for the construction of the convention center.
“This is just the start. We will really work hard that we can realize this project,” said Aumentado.
Aumentado said having a convention center will boost tourism in the province.
“Bohol is known for its tourism and we should take advantage of that by having a convention center,” the governor said.
Aumentado said the province could attract more tourists through MICE or Meetings, Incentives, Conference, and Exhibitions tourism.
“We will look for more funds so we can finally fulfill the dream of every Bol-anon of having a convention center in the province,” said Aumentado.
