Four firework-related injuries recorded ahead of Christmas Day—DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) recorded four cases of firecracker-related injuries since it started its surveillance last Dec. 21.
One case happened last Dec. 21 while three cases were logged on Dec. 23, based on the DOH’s report on Saturday, Dec. 24.
“All cases were males. Age ranged from eight to 10 years. Three cases were actively involved. All injuries occurred at home and were managed by hospitals on an outpatient basis,” the DOH said.
“One case had blast/burn injury without amputation, while three cases sustained eye injuries,” it added.
These cases were reported from Ilocos Region, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas, the DOH said.
The firecrackers that caused the injuries were boga and five-star, the DOH said.
