A 47-year-old woman was rescued by joint government forces after she jumped off the Intramuros-Binondo Bridge to Pasig River in Manila on Friday, Dec. 23.

Rescue personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Philippine National Police (PNP) saved the distressed woman who allegedly attempted to commit suicide "due to family problems," the PCG said.
According to reports received by the PCG, the woman, whose real name was not revealed to protect her identity, climbed the bridge and was seen by passersby.
BFP and PNP personnel tried to negotiate with the woman so she would come down but she suddenly jumped to the river, the PCG stated.
The PCG said that Coast Guard Petty Officer Second Class (PO2) Ray Eric Agad, of the Coast Guard Special Operations Force (CGSOF), immediately swam to save the woman.

"She was conscious and in good physical condition after the successful rescue operation," the PCG said.
The PCG did not elaborate what family ordeal the woman was enduring that led her to try to end her life.
The PCG said the woman was brought to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) for further medical assistance.
