ILOILO CITY – Police seized illegal drugs totaling P249 million in Western Visayas in the first 11 months of this year.
The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 said more than 36 kilos of suspected shabu and seven kilos of marijuana were seized from January to November.
“We are optimistic in winning the fight against illegal drugs,” said PRO-6 chief Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco.
Francisco said 1,843 illegal drug suspects were arrested in 11 months and that almost 90 percent of the barangays in Western Visayas have been cleared of illegal drugs by the Regional Oversight Committee Deliberation Board (ROCDB-6) composed of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Department of Health (DOH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Major Grace Socorro Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said that Aklan and Guimaras provinces have been cleared 100 percent by the ROCDB-6.
