PNP, BOC seize P8.5M worth of ecstasy hidden inside a parcel from France
Government anti-narcotics operatives seized more than P8.5 million worth of ecstasy in a controlled delivery operation in Sta. Rosa City in Laguna.
PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. said the operation also resulted in the arrest of Joy Bautista who received the package containing the ecstasy tablets that were hidden in a parcel.

In a separate statement, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) said the package from France contained six stuffed toys and 5,032 pink tablets concealed in the box that were hidden inside the toys.
The PNP and the BOC immediately mapped out an operation with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) after confirming during an inspection that the parcel contain ecstasy tablets.
Azurin said Bautista was collared after receiving the package at around 3:30 p.m. in Barangay Dita in Sta. Rosa City.

During the confirmatory test conducted by the PDEA, it was confirmed that the tablets were indeed ecstasy, a party drug classified as a dangerous drug under Republic Act No. 9165.
The claimant is undergoing custodial investigation for an eventual inquest proceeding for violation of R.A. No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, in relation to Sections 119 and 1401 of RA 10863, the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
