ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Nine persons, including a three-year-old toddler, were injured when the van they were riding on fell off the side of the Tinuba bridge in Barangay Sinubong, Zamboanga City on Thursday, December 22.

Police investigation showed that the vehicle was travelling from barangay Ayala in the west coast when the driver failed to control the steering wheel in their approach to the Tinuba bridge.
The van veered toward the side of the bridge and fell into the steep slope.
Paramedics responded to the scene of the accident and brought the injured passengers to a local hospital.
They were identified as Fadzrina Pulalon, 17; Mark Alviar, 19; Melanie Alama, 26; Jaylo Agustin, 15; Juric de Leon, 24; Nathaniel German, 3; Michael German, 24; Necajane Oris, 22; and the driver John Gless Arcillas, 22.
Police are investigating reports that the driver fell asleep at the wheel while driving under the influence of liquor.
