Motorcycle rider killed, companion injured in Negros accident

BACOLOD CITY -- A man died while his friend was wounded after their motorcycle collided with a truck loaded with sugarcane at Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay Lag-asan, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Dec. 22.

Police identified the fatality as Sanny Salcedo, 24, of Barangay Mabini, Valladolid, while his wounded friend was identified as Alexander Arnaiz, 18, also of the same barangay.

Capt. Ronald Santillan, deputy police chief of Bago City Police Station, said the alleged speeding motorcycle hit the rear part of the truck when it reportedly did not slow down while approaching the intersection area.

Santillan said that Arnaiz was referred to a hospital here due to serious injuries.

Santillan said the 42-year-old truck driver surrendered to the police.
