PCG rescues 19 individuals off Palawan


Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) have rescued 15 passengers and four crew of a distressed motor banca off the waters of Puerto Princesa City in Palawan, Monday night, Dec. 19.

In a report, the PCG said it received a report that a motorbanca encountered engine trouble while traversing Puerto Princesa City from Cagayancillo.

Coast guard officials said they sent BRP Kalanggaman (FPB-2404) to rescue the passengers and the crews and quickly conducted the towing operations.

The banca was spotted approximately 14 nautical miles southeast of Puerto Princesa City.

Rescued individuals were given medical attention upon arrival at Rasa Island in Narra, Palawan before being sent back to their respective homes.

According to PCG District Palawan, the 19 individuals were also provided with food packs and drinking water from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO)-Narra and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Narra.
