CEBU CITY – The new chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) reminded his men that he is strictly enforcing the “no take” policy.

Brig. Gen. Jerry Bearis said policemen should not accept money or any material things especially if they come from illegal activities.

“I am reminding everyone of the strict no take policy in any form of material or monetary,” Bearis said.

Bearis replaced Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba, whose stint as PRO-7 chief only lasted two months.

Bearis, who formally assumed his post on Tuesday, Dec. 20, said he is counting on all PRO-7 personnel to support his leadership.

“I accept this post with great expectation that you will give me the same cooperation and support that you have given to the very dynamic Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba so that this Police Regional Office will keep achieving its goals and objectives,” Bearis said.

Bearis said he will intensify the cleansing program within the police organization as he warned that illegal acts committed by police officers will not be tolerated.

Bearis was designated PRO-7 chief as Cebu is preparing for the Sinulog Festival in mid-January.

He said the PRO-7 will start focusing on crafting effective security preparations to ensure a peaceful Sinulog.

“In a few weeks, we will be at the forefront of a very major event here in Cebu and that is the Sinulog festivities. All hands should be on deck on all the security preparations and we will make this will be a very unforgettable major comeback of the much-awaited and one of the country’s grandest festival,” Bearis said.
