BOC ships abandoned balikbayan boxes to VisMin for free distribution to OFW kin
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has shipped 20 container vans loaded with balikbayan boxes that were abandoned in its two warehouse in Manila and Bulacan.
BOC Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz said the balikbayan boxes were ordered transported to MIndanao and Visayas ports which will in turn take the obligation to distribute them to the relatives of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Most of the balikbayan boxes in Luzon were already claimed.
The balikbayan boxes consigned to All Win Cargo LLC and Cargoflex Haulers Coporation were abandoned in BOC ports due to alleged unscrupulous consolidators abroad..
In October, Ruiz ordered the distribution of the balikbayan boxes for free after learning of thousands of them in BOC ports.
Ruiz vowed to run after the those involved.

Meanwhile, the boxes destined for the Luzon area, except Metro Manila, will be distributed by the Collection Districts, which have jurisdiction over the cities or municipalities where the boxes are bound.
Ruiz said the BOC - Manila International Container Port (MICP) will continue to post updates on its official Facebook page at facebook.com/bocmicp.
