The local government said that the skills training program was led by the SSDD-Vocational Development Division in coordination with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). It aims to help QCitizens gain additional knowledge and skills which they can use when looking for jobs.

The trainees underwent classes in different courses such as Bread and Pastry Poduction, Hairdressing, Health Care Services Basic Automotive Servicing, Electrical Installation and Maintencance, and Dressmaking, among others.

The classes were held in their respective barangays, which started on the first week of October 2022, the city government said.

Mayor Belmonte congratulated the city residents who completed the program.

Meanwhile, the Navotas City government also announced that there are 18 beneficiaries of the Social Protection Program for Adolescent Mothers and their Children (SPPAMC) who completed Beauty Care and Bread Making courses (nine graduates each) of the Navotas Vocational Training and Assessment (NAVOTAAS) Institute on Wednesday.

It said that the graduates received tool kits that will help in starting their businesses. They also underwent values formation and entrepreneurship seminar.

The SPPAMC is a program of the Commission on Population and Development National Capital Region (POPCOM-NCR), along with the Navotas City Social Welfare and Development Office and City Health Office, that aims to protect adolescent mothers from the risks of early pregnancies.

The NAVOTAAS Institute offers the city residents and non-residents different technical and vocational courses under TESDA. It has four training centers in Navotas where residents can enroll for free, while non-residents may take assessment examinations for a fee based on the course they will take.
