LPA, 'amihan' may continue to bring rains over parts of PH

The low pressure area (LPA) and northeast monsoon or "amihan" may continue to bring rains over some parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 p.m. forecast on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Cloudy skies with rains brought by amihan are expected in Cagayan Valley and Apayao while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains.

The state weather bureau warned of possible flash floods or landslides in low-lying areas caused by moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to prevail in eastern Visayas and Caraga due to the LPA.

The rest of the country may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA noted that the LPA was last seen 190 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, and is still unlikely to develop into a tropical depression in the following days.

A gale warning alert is still raised in the northern coast of Quezon including the northern and eastern coasts of Polillo Islands, Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Isabela, Aurora.
