CEBU CITY -- Career advancement.
Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba cited this as the reason why he was relieved as regional director of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7).
“This (relief) is a preparatory to a two-star rank later on if given the chance,” Alba said after the turnover ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr.

Alba was named as PRO-7 chief just last Oct. 13. His next assignment will be at Camp Crame where he will lead the Directorate for Human Resource Development Division.
Alba was replaced by Brig. Gen. Jerry Bearis, the former regional director of Police Regional Office-3 (Central Luzon).
Lt. Gen. Patrick Villacorte, Commander of Area Police Command-Visayas, presided over the turnover ceremony.
Alba clarified that his relief has nothing to do with the recent arrest of a policeman who was accused of robbing a gas station in Bohol.
Alba added that even if his stint lasted only for more than two months, the PRO-7 performed well under his leadership.
Alba cited PRO-7’s high accomplishment rate in the campaign against illegal gambling especially in ‘online sabong.’
Alba said since he took over as PRO-7 chief, at least 300 persons involved in e-sabong were arrested.
Alba said his stint as PRO-7 chief also saw the Central Visayas police play an active role in the campaign against illegal drugs and became part of the creation of the One Cebu Inter-Agency Interdiction Task Force.
