CIDG intercepts P260,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes in Palawan

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized more than P260,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes following the arrest of two people allegedly selling them in Palawan.

Nabbed were Jayrahz Tuibeo Velasco, 33; and, Diosdado Cruses Lagbas, 51. They were collared after CIDG operatives intercepted their vehicle in Roxas town of Palawan on Monday, Dec. 19.

Seized were a van transporting the cigarettes and 20 cartons of cigarettes.

CIDG director Police Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee said the cigarettes have no necessary certificate, clearance, permit or any other document from authorizing agencies.

Lee said they are now preparing criminal charges against the arrested suspects while investigation is being conducted to identify their alleged cohorts.
