This was said by PRC in a statement on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

The RC143 volunteers from 102 chapters nationwide were trained to respond to any medical or disaster emergencies within their respective communities, PRC assured.

"Habang ang bansa ay nagdiriwang, abala sa paghahanda sa Pasko at Bagong Taon, ang inyong Philippine Red Cross ay walang patid sa pagbibigay ng serbisyo. Ito ay posible dahil sa ating RC143 volunteer system at sa ating state-of-the-art Operations Center (While the country is celebrating and busy preparing for Christmas and New Year, your Philippine Red Cross is continuously providing service. This is possible because of our RC143 volunteer system and our state-of-the-art Operations Center)," said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon.

The organization noted that its ambulance or emergency medical services are open 24/7 and can be reached through their hotline—(+632) 8790 2300.

Its blood services facilities will also be operational during the holidays.

Meanwhile, PRC Secretary General Gwendolyn T. Pang reminded the public to observe safety precautions during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

"It is important to make sure that our vehicles are roadworthy, especially for long drives. We also remind everyone of the importance of wearing seatbelts. At home, make sure that the food we serve are clean and safe, especially for very young children and the elderly. Double-check appliances, stoves, and other possible sources of fire," said Pang.
