Miss Universe unveils P336 million crown

The new crown of Miss Universe dubbed 'Force for Good'

The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) unveiled its new crown dubbed "Force for Good" which the new winner will wear during the grand coronation in New Orleans, Louisiana on Jan. 14, 2023 (Jan. 15, Manila time).

The MUO, which is now under the Thai holding and conglomerate JKN Global Group led by Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip, presented the crown that was crafted by world-renowned luxury jeweler Mouawad.

On Facebook, Miss Universe uploaded a video featuring the pageant crown, which India’s Harnaaz Sandhu will pass to her successor on the coronation night in the US.

"The gravitational forces of possibilities, drivers, actions, positive change, goodness, and a brighter future. The Mouawad Miss Universe crown 2022 originated with these as its inspiration," the video said.

Anne said that the pageant crown for the 71st Miss Universe pageant is worth US$6 million (roughly P336,000,000.00 when converted to Philippine pesos).

The gems are set in rippling wave motifs that reflect the need for any call for change to be repeated across time.

"And to various audiences in order to build the momentum necessary for this change to emerge," it added.

The MUO said that the crown is represented by the 45.14-carat Royal Blue sapphire that "stands victorious" at the peak of the crown.

"In contrast, reflecting the point a significant change does not happen in an instant, but only after a sustained effort over time," the video added.

As for the base of the crown, it is set with diamonds symbolizing the status quo.

"As the eye moves upward from the base, the color gradient changes from the glistening white of diamonds to the warm blue of sapphires, deepening in intensity towards the pinnacle of the crown, where the deep royal blue color of the ultimate sapphire symbolizes goodness and hope for a brighter future."

It said: "The crown also reminds us that there is seldom change without resistance. Stakeholders with a vested interest in maintaining the status quo will try to prevent change, represented by abstract motifs emulating serpents around the base. These are outnumbered and dominated by the rippling waves above, as ultimately, the force for good emerges victorious."
