GOSSIP GIRL: Senator Imee Marcos shares family's fave recipes in time for noche buena

Sen. Imee Marcos

“Si dad, siya mismo ang nagpri-prito ng Okoy para sa mga kaibigan niya, tapos ayaw niya yung dinengdeng na may bagoong, imbis na bagoong gusto niya maliit na tulya na may asin kaya nagiiba na yung lasa, sumasarap, may twist."

Senator Imee Marcos chatted with the press and her friends who attended the book launch for her first cookbook “PinakBest! Recipes from the Marcos Kitchen & More” held at the Pandesal Forum located at the 83-year-old Kamuning Bakery Cafe in Quezon City.

It seems that each recipe featured in the book has a story, shared by the brilliant senator herself, on how each dish gave a piece of a happy memory — from First Lady Imelda Marcos waiting along the shores of Leyte for a fresh catch of fish to the senator's sons enjoying oysters while on vacation in France.

The book features traditional food that is innovated by adding ingredients according to personal taste, as well as all-time favorite comfort foods. During the launch , Senator Imee said her favorite dish is Dinengdeng, with a recipe she inherited from her late father President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos which is different because it doesn’t use “bagoong” but clams for salty flavoring.
