Mayor Sandoval leads Malabon Teachers' Day celebration

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval led the celebration of Malabon Teachers’ Day at the city’s Sports Complex on Friday, Dec. 2.

Sandoval expressed her gratitude to the city’s teachers for their services and dedication to the development of the students.

She assured them of some of the city’s initiatives that will provide additional cash allowances to teachers by next year.

The event, which carried the theme “Guro ng Malabon, Dangal ng Lungsod ng Malabon,“ was spearheaded by the Department of Education Schools Division Office of Malabon and the city government.

The educators who served for five years or more were awarded with certificates for their service while some also won cash, electronic appliances, and gadgets in a raffle held during the event.

Under Malabon City Council Resolution No. 31–2005, classes in all levels, both public and private in the city on the first Friday of December are cancelled to give way to the celebration of Malabon Teachers’ Day.

The city government also thanked the educators for their sacrifices for the students.

"Napakalaki ng papel na ginagampanan niyo sa ating lipunan dahil isa kayo sa mga humuhubog ng pagkatao at pag-iisip ng ating mga mag-aaral (The role you play in our society is huge because you are one of those who shape our students)," the city government said in a Facebook post.

In line with the city’s holiday festivities, the local government temporarily closed the roads in front of the City Hall until Rizal Avenue from Dec. 1 to 31, for the conduct of the Paskuhan Village.

Vehicles coming from Tonsuya to Bayan are advised to take General Luna Street and turn left to Sacristia Street.

Those from Navotas City going to Bayan may pass through Estrella Street to Rizal Avenue.

The Paskuhan Village, the city’s first outdoor Christmas Market, is open from Dec. 1 to 31. It was organized by the city government and the Malabon Chamber of Commerce and Industry to provide a space for micro, small, and medium enterprises in the city to showcase their products. Around 25 vendors are featured in the market.
