Man wanted for child porn in Mimaropa nabbed in Paranaque


CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Police arrested a man wanted for child pornography in the Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan area (Mimaropa) in Paranaque City on Thursday, Dec. 1.

Brig. Gen. Sidney Hernia, Mimaropa police regional director, identified the suspect as Rodel D. Ulan, 19, from Sitio Bacoron, Barangay Apitong, Naujan, this province.

Hernia said Ulan, the No. 1 most wanted person in Mimaropa, was arrested by the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit and Naujan Municipal Police Station, with support from the Coast Guard Station Oriental Mindoro, in front of Grand West Side Hotel, Bay Boulevard, Bagong Nayong Pilipino.

Ulan had warrants of arrest issued by the Family Court, Branch 12, in Naujan for grave coercion in relation to Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act); two counts of robbery with violence against or intimidation of persons (Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code) in relation to RA 7610; 11 counts of acts of lasciviousness in relation to RA 7610, and 11 counts of Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009 (RA 9775) in relation to RA 10175.

The court recommended a total bail of P3.6 million for the suspect.

Hernia lauded the operating units for arresting the suspect. “The successful arrest of said most wanted person reflects our commitment to keeping our community safe and secure by going after persons wanted by law. Hence, I commend our operating units in this laudable accomplishment,” Hernia said.

Ulan is under police custody for turnover to the issuing court.

The Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division said 527 most wanted persons in Region 4-B have been arrested since January, an increase of 45.98 percent compared to the 361 arrested in the same period last year.
