Village dad, 2 tanods shot dead in Zamboanga del Sur videoke bar

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A barangay councilor and two barangay tanods or watchmen were killed by two unidentified armed men inside a videoke bar in Dumalinao town, Zamboanga del Sur province, last Friday, Dec. 16.

Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-9 information officer, said the victims were having a drinking session when the gunmen entered and shot them.

Richard Evidientes, 38, councilor of Barangay Upper Dumalinao; and tanods Arnold Evidientes Duhaylungsod, 44, of Barangay Upper Dumalinao, and Joel Mendez Spadilla, 48, of Barangay Mecolong, Dumalinao, died on the spot.

Patrons Eugen Borja and Cerillo Saranillo sustained bullet wounds.

The suspects boarded a motorcycle and sped off towards Barangay Pantad in Dumalinao.

Dumalinao police are investigating the incident.
