Albay 2nd district Rep. Joey Salceda has expressed confidence that the proposed Ease of Paying Taxes (EOPT) Act will become a law in 2023, in the current 19th Congress.

This, as the House Committee on Ways and Means chairman noted the steady movement of the measure among their counterparts in the upper chamber, the Senate.
“I am confident that these pending items will find favorable resolution by early 2023. The Senate is moving with EOPT without much controversy, so expect that to be law next year," Salceda said.
The EOPT Bill seeks to amend the National Internal Revenue Code, as amended and introduce administrative reforms that will ultimately reduce the burden of paying taxes.
Aside from modernizing tax collection for the government, the bill also aims to strengthen taxpayers' rights.
The House of Representatives--the lower chamber, passed its version of the measure back on Sept. 26.
Designated as House Bill (HB) No.4125, the proposed statute was unanimously approved on third and final reading by congressmen to the tune of 250 affirmative votes. From there, it was left up to the Senate to bring the measure closer to enactment.
Salceda is an author of the EOPT Bill, having filed a precursor measure in HB No.53.
