Over P5 million worth of counterfeit power tools were seized in Navotas City by the members of the Northern Police District (NPD) on Monday, Dec. 19.
According to the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU), they received an information that the suspect, Hong Xiao Bao or also known as Ben Ong, Ben Ang, and Haitao Hong, owner of the Credibility Logistics Co. LTD, is violating the Section 168 (Unfair Competition) of RA No. 8293 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, by counterfeiting (labels, prints, misbranded) MAKITA products.
After series of surveillance, verification, and test buy, the DSOU-NPD applied for a search warrant.
The DSOU-NPD implemented the search warrant to Credibility Logistics Co. LTD located along Simeon De Jesus St., San Rafael Village, Navotas City at about 9 a.m. on Dec. 19, which led to the confiscation of the said products.
Seized were 700 pieces of impact drill, 300 pieces of welding machines, and 24 pieces of impact hammer drill with an estimated value of P5,537,000.
Other products believed to be counterfeit with an approximate value of more or less P200,000,000 were also confiscated.
Authorities also verified with the Business Permit and Licensing Office of Navotas and Securities and Exchange Commission that the said company was not registered in their respective offices.
