New paved Zamboanga del Sur Road boosts economy in the province

The upgrade of the Monsanas- Upper Dimorok-Lower Dimorok Road will improve mobility and the transport of goods in Zamboanga del Sur, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Monday, Dec. 19.
DPWH Regional Office 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia reported that the newly-paved 1.68-kilometer road is expected to reduce travel time to and from the town proper by 10 minutes, aiding the faster transport of goods and farm produce to the market.
"The DPWH, together with the local government of Molave, fast tracked the completion of this project to boost economic activity by opening more opportunities for livelihood and facilitating faster access to social services," Dia said.
DPWH Zamboanga del Sur First District Engineer Reynerio Alcachupas said the project involved the construction of concrete road and provision of drainage and slope protection and riprap as protection from scour and erosion during heavy rains and typhoons.
The new Mansanas-Upper Dimorok-Lower Dimorok Road which was constructed with a total cost of P32-million under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA) was implemented under the Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps (SIPAG) Program. (Chito A. Chavez)
