CAMP Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Police arrested a couple for allegedly killing and robbing an 18-year-old student in Angeles City during a follow-up operation a day after the incident on Dec. 17.
Police said the body of Juana Mae Maslang was found by her mother on Friday night, Dec. 16, inside their room. Valuables, including one mobile phone and watch, were missing.
Police Regional Office 3 chief Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen said that during the follow-up investigation of operatives of the Angeles Police Station 1, witnesses saw the suspects, Val Cahanding, 22, and his live-in partner, Japanie Torbelles, both residents of Barangay Pulungbulu, Angeles City, leaving the victim’s house.
Two blood-stained T-shirts and one kitchen knife were recovered at the suspects’ house. Police forensic investigators have collected DNA from the pieces of evidence.
Suspects face charges for robbery with homicide and are currently under the custody of Police Station 1.
