Over 2,000 informal workers hired for emergency employment in Isabela
A total of 2,236 informal and vulnerable workers in the province of Isabela are the recent beneficiary of the emergency employment program under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported on Sunday, Dec. 18.
DOLE Isabela Field Office (IFO) led the two-day payout on December 15-16 2022, disbursing over P8.9 million in wages to beneficiaries from various municipalities of Isabela.
DOLE-IFO Head Evelyn U. Yango said 10 municipalities were benefactors of the assistance, including Burgos with 123 beneficiaries; Roxas with 200 beneficiaries; Quezon, 125; Quirino, 124; Luna, 125; Echague, 1,126; San Manuel, 151; Aurora, 150; Jones, 56; and Cordon with 56 beneficiaries.
TUPAD workers rendered 10 days of community work through clean-up and beautification of public facilities in their respective barangays, according to Gonzales.
The TUPAD platform is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers.
The beneficiaries were given an employment venture for a minimum period of 10 days but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days.
