K-pop boy band Seventeen returned to the Philippines for a one-night only concert at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, touted as the biggest indoor arena in the world with an estimated maximum seating capacity of 55,000.
Seventeen held their “Be The Sun” world tour for the third time in the country on Dec. 17, which attracted a huge crowd.
This was their third “Be The Sun” concert in the Philippines after holding the first two on Oct. 8 and 9 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“It’s actually our first time coming to Bulacan. Really, really excited for tonight. You guys filled up such a big arena. Thank you guys so much,” Joshua greeted the crowd
Hoshi told fans, “Mahal ko kayo (I love you). Wow! There are so many people here right now. Like it is so good that we came back here so fast.”
“Mahal namin kayo (We love you). I feel amazing today,” said Dino.
“Wow! Your screams are so outstanding,” said Jeonghan.
“Na-miss ko kayo. Mahal ko kayo (I missed you. I love you),” said Mingyu.
Seventeen opened the concert with “Hot” followed by “March,” “Hit” and “Rock with You.”
Joshua and Vernon performed “2 Minus 1”; the performance unit composed of Hoshi, Jun, The 8 and Dino, performed “Moonwalker” and “Wave.”
Seventeen’s vocal unit, composed of Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, DK and Seungkwan, sang “Come To Me” and “Imperfect Love.”
The hip-hop unit of S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu and Vernon performed “Gam3 Bo1” and “Back It Up.”
At the show, they performed for the first time the track “Cheers” done by S.Coups, Woozi and Hoshi.
The idol group also sang “Mansae,” “Left & Right,” “Very Nice,” “Shadow,” “Crush,” “_World,” “Darl+ing,” “Our Dawn is Hotter Than Day” and “Snap Shoot.”
During their farewell messages to the fans, Seungkwan became nostalgic as he remembered the first time that Seventeen performed in the Philippines wherein less than 1,000 people came to the show.
He was referring to Aug. 14 and 15, 2016 when Seventeen held their fan meeting “Shining Diamonds: 1st Asia Pacific Tour” in Manila at The Theatre of Solaire Resort & Casino.
At the Philippine Arena, he estimated that more than 40,000 people came for Seventeen.
“I remember the last time when we had a concert here in the Philippines. I remember during that time, I think it was less than 1,000 capacity. But right now, you guys are like more than 40,000 people here. It’s like we really thank you a lot even though you guys came from far away, you guys came just to see us,” said Seungkwan.
Vernon said, “It was so much fun. Every time we come to the Philippines, we’re just astonished by your energy. It is really crazy. Thank you for making an amazing memory for all of us and hopefully we can see each other again.”
“Thank you guys for coming. I’m really glad we had fun with all the Carats,” said Wonwoo.
“‘Be The Sun’ is coming to an end and it is really overwhelming. But you know, it is kinda sad. But even though it’s coming to an end, we are still happy right now. I was really shocked with all of your energy. We will be coming back soon again,” said Mingyu.
“It’s really nice that we got to spend before 2022 ends. Even though ‘Be The Sun’ is almost coming to an end, next year again, I think it will be much better if we meet up again in a bigger venue. And we will come back with a better show, much better than ‘Be The Sun,’: said S.Coups.
“We are so happy to be back, honestly. It’s only been two months but we got here in such a bigger venue so we’re really, really thankful for that,” said Joshua.
Seventeen’s “Be The Sun” world tour in Manila was presented by Pledis Entertainment and Live Nation Philippines with Smart and Viu as sponsors.
