The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Aurora, in partnership with the National Police Commission (Napolcom), conducted a Capacity Development Training for People's Law Enforcement Board (PLEB) in the province in a bid to rid the police ranks with scalawags.
In a statement, the DILG Aurora explained that “the PLEB is a check and balance mechanism that promotes active people's participation and empowers the citizen against abusive and erring policemen, thereby instilling discipline in their ranks.’’
The PLEB has the power to hear and adjudicate all citizen's complaints formally filed with, or referred to it, against any uniformed member of the Philippine National Police (PNP), and if warranted, impose the corresponding penalty.
Ener P. Cambronero of the DILG Aurora stressed that the purpose of the activity is to ensure that the newly established PLEB of the Aurora local government units (LGUs) will be equipped with the knowledge on their functions, powers and duties, and how to effectively perform the same.
"Ang capacity development na ito po ay upang magampanan natin ng maayos at mahusay ang mga tungkulin bilang PLEB members (The capacity development was initiated for us to perform properly and well our duties as PLEB members),’’ Cambronero said.
