At least nine people were reported to have died in a fire that hit a two-storey house in Muntinlupa City on Sunday morning, Dec. 18.
Muntinlupa City fire marshall Supt. Eugene Briones said the fatalities were found on the ground floor of the house in Barangay Putatan.
At least one person remains missing while another one was reported to have sustained injuries.
The BFP National Capital Region (NCR) public information office reported that the blaze started in a residential area on Larva Street, Bruger Subdivision in Barangay Putatan at 8:56 a.m. It immediately reached the first alarm in just a few minutes.
It was placed under control at 9:25 a.m., and was declared fire out at 10:25 a.m.
Arson investigators that a bungalow-type house and another two-storey were also affected by the blaze.
Briones stated that only one big house that has two floors was involved in the fire but revealed that there were 10 people inside.
Based on the initial report, Briones said that the victims might not have been able to escape the burning house as they were still asleep during the incident.
The BFP is still investigating the possible cause of the fire.
